Radio Interview
On Thursday 20th March, Matt Hone, Thirza and Jamie, joined Matt White of South 107.3 for a radio interview on the Breakfast Show. They discussed the expedition to Nepal in 2006, and the upcoming trip in 2008, along with the charity work for EPHC.
Quiz Night
The quiz night held in November was a great success with all the tickets being sold. In total over 120 people attended the event. Matt would like to thank the quiz night committee for their hard work leading up to and during the event. We would also like to pass on his thanks to our MC on the night - David. The quiz night raised over £600.
Training Weekend
We have confirmed that a compulsory training weekend for everyone going to Nepal for the 2008 expeditions will be held on Saturday 16th February through to Sunday 17th February 2008. It will be held at the County Headquarters - The Fort, Dulwich.
Bag packing raises funds for expedition
Both Nepal 2008 expeditions have been busy packing bags at Sainsbury's in Lee Green and Tesco's Lewisham. Not only does the bag packing raise funds but it has also raises the profile of the expeditions. We hope to be able to do more bag packing at Christmas time.
T-shirts have arrived
The expedition t-shirts have arrived, they were made in Kathmandu and shipped over to us. These t-shirts will are included in the cost of the trip, and also available for £8 to anyone wishing to purchase one. They must be worn to all Nepal 2008 events, such as the Quiz Night.
Julian runs London Marathon
Julian completed the London Marathon in 5 hours 4 minutes. In the process is raised nearly £2000 which will be split between our expedition and EPHC. Our congratulations and thanks go to Julian.
T-Shirts
Expedition t-shirts have been ordered and will be shipped to us as soon as there complete. Supporters of the expeditions will be able to purchase a t-shirt for £5 - numbers are limited.
Julian to run London Marathon!
Julian Goodchild (21st Beaver Leader) who went on the 2006 Expedition is in training for the 2007 London Marathon. Although Julian will not be coming on the 2008 expeditions Julian has decided to raise funds for the expeditions and EPHC on a 50/50 basis. Please support Julian by making a pledge, to make your pledge just e-mail me with how much you are going to sponsor him and I will pass this information on to Julian.
Important Group Meeting - 17th May 2007
A group meeting is to be held on Thursday 17th May 2007. Anyone with an interest in the two expeditions is invited but it is essential for anyone going to Nepal to be at this meeting. Gill and Pradip from Access-Himalaya will be there and there will also be a display of the equipment needed and a small team to help you with any questions you may have. The time and venue are to be confirmed shortly.
Meeting - 2nd November
A meeting will be held for all those participating in the Nepal 2008 expeditions on the 2nd November 2006 at the Our Lady of Lourdes Church Hall, Burnt Ash Lane.
